Merry Christmas and invite to Rob Roy Memorial Event
I wish all the MacGregor Clan in Australia the best that life can give during the coming festive season. May you all have a happy and joyous Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
You are all invited to the Rob Roy Memorial Event at Rawson Park, Mosman, Sydney, NSW when we pay tribute to Rob's life on the day of his passing at Inverlochlaribeg (Head of Loch Doine) on 28th December 1734.
We meet in the park on 28th December 2013 at around 6.15pm for a BYO Twilight Picnic. Later we are piped to the Memorial Cairn (around 7.30pm) where a short ceremony is conducted to conclude the evening.
Directions: Take Bradleys Head Road from Mosman Junction and turn left into Elamatta Ave. (Indicators are shown on the street sign). The park is at the end of Elematta Avenue, (a very short thoroughfare).

Combined Scottish Gathering at Castle Hill, Sydney
A sunny day in November started well with the Clan Gregor tent hosted by Rex set up on the grounds of the gathering.
A number of interested MacGregors came to visit the tent and chat about their ancestors who settled in Sydney in the 1800's.
A highlight for the event was the Pipe Majors competition with their maces being tossed high in the air and caught again whilst they marched.
At lunch time though there was a change in the weather. A gale force wind arrived with a vengence on the scene and tents began to shiver and twist, and exhibition material went flying.
Rather than risk any further damage our tent was dismantled along with others and we retired for the day.
What a disappointment. Lets hope for better weather next time.

Welcome to the Clan Gregor in Australia Blog
This blog aims to keep you informed of events in Australia that you may like to come along to.
Scottish Highland Gatherings are a wonderful opportunity for the community to find out more about their heritage and to enjoy Scottish music, dancing, food and sporting events.
A Clan Gregor tent will be set up at a number of the gatherings in NSW. Details will be posted on this blog when they are available. The Clan tent will have a member of the society available between 10am and 3pm to discuss MacGregor names and history. We'd love you to come and visit us!
